Project Description
ChanceGuru is a dual-sided marketplace tailored for the film and media industry. We moved beyond standard text resumes to build a portfolio-first platform where cinematographers, directors, and actors can showcase their work, and production houses can book services directly.
Problem
The media industry relies heavily on informal networks, making hiring chaotic and exclusive. Standard job portals are ineffective because they rely on text-based CVs, which fail to showcase an artist's visual style or technical capability, leading to a mismatch between talent and production needs.
- Problem 1
The creative hiring process is unstructured, relying heavily on chaotic WhatsApp groups and word-of-mouth.
- Problem 2
text-based job portals fail to capture the visual nature of creative work (reels, portfolios).
- Problem 3
managing applications and audition tapes via email is a nightmare for casting directors.
Solution
We designed a platform that puts the portfolio front and center. By allowing creatives to upload rich media and define their service rates, we brought transparency and structure to the industry. The built-in communication tools further streamline the pre-production workflow for hiring managers.
- solution 1
Designed rich-media profile pages allowing high-res video and image portfolio hosting.
- Solution 2
Built a "Service Posting" architecture where creatives can list specific services (e.g., "Drone Operating") with rates.
- Solution 3
Implemented an integrated chat and file-sharing system for seamless pre-production communication.
Workflow Scenario
A production house posts a requirement for a "Music Video Director." They receive applications containing video showreels, not just PDFs. They review the reels, shortlist candidates, and initiate a chat to discuss budget and dates. Once agreed, the talent is booked through the platform.
The Result
ChanceGuru centralized the fragmented creative hiring market. It provided transparency in hiring and gave standardized visibility to freelancers. The platform's focus on visual portfolios increased the "application-to-interview" conversion rate for talented artists who previously lacked connections.
